Tree and Mind

When they see the availability of simple and practical solutions to enter a problem, either time or place is no more mattered to them. If it is a global issue, they will approach the problem in no time. That’s the SRILANKANKEY community. SRILANKANKEY has identified the breakdown in the link between nature and humankind as the cause of several global issues. So that our members contrive to restore the connection as it was a thousand years back. The analytical studies provide reliable evidence to prove that clearing lands for cultivations and industrial purposes cause huge threats to flora and fauna in greater scales.

In the first place, it is vitally important to recognize where the crisis happens and then measures should be taken by building awareness among the individuals. The second step is making implementations to deal with the problem. Our members follow this process of identification, awareness, and implementation to go through the severe hazards in nature. The main focus of our organization is to conserve wildlife and maintain bio-diversity, launching projects and programs all around the country.

We expect to get the young children together to co-operate with our eco-healthy and nature-friendly ideas as it paves the way to transfer a message from generation to generation. Our tree planting programs accompany positive behavioral changes in students along with positive changes in their attitudes as well. The target group of our programs is the school children, owing to the fact that their childish experiences get matured with their age. Accordingly, they learn to consider nature as their friend or family since their childhood which is highly beneficial to strengthen the natural relationship between the child and the environment. The main concept, "Tree and Mind" is to sum up our ideas and visions about the inseparable connection between nature and humankind.

ENGAGEMENT

We get students actively involved in tree planting and looking after their own tree along with the foundations support and guidance. Where the child will build a connection with the tree and find a friend.

To the whole society

Nature reaches out to us with welcoming arms, and bids us enjoy her beauty; but we dread her silence and rush into the crowded cities, there to huddle like sheep feeling from a ferocious wolf. (Khalil Gibran)

The relationship between nature and humankind is interdependent. One single damage or breakdown in the connection can cause an irreparable loss for both sides. It’s obvious that the majority of natural disasters are resulted due to harmful human acts done to this environment. The world is witnessing nature’s negative response to our destructive activities from the widely spread global warming issues and environmental catastrophes. The century requires necessary solutions to deal with this universal problem and SRILANKANKEY has already taken part in it with recommended initiations. The simplest, but the most efficient solution; tree planting is not only a trivial attempt of reforestation. The fundamental message goes beyond the simple act and our members intend to socialize the meaning of their actions. One of our major goals is to educate the society about the timely requirement of protecting and growing trees. People should be aware of the essential importance of trees, as they purify the atmosphere, supply habitats for living beings, maintain biodiversity, and reduce global warming, etc. Thus, reforestation is not one singular attempt to serve nature, moreover, it makes positive impacts on the inter-relationship between society and nature.

Why are trees so important to the environment?

Trees help clean the air we breathe and the water that we drink and provides a habitat to over 80% of the world's earthly biodiversity. Forests provide us, humans, a balanced environment for living by absorbing harmful pollutants from the atmosphere and provide clean oxygen for us to breath

A walk to evergreen future,
